St. Lucia Photos and Review

Have you ever wanted to experience an all-inclusive (AI) resort but wasn’t sure what it was all about? AI resorts are where everything is included such as your room, food, liquor, certain water sports, entertainment and lots of fun. Well we weren’t sure either at first but now we know. Our first AI was on St. Lucia at the Almonds Morgan Bay Beach Resort (newly renamed to St. James Morgan Bay Beach Resort). It was great and we have not taken our vacations any other way if AI’s are available. Because we travel as the professionals do, we are given the Royal Treatment. We were picked up at the airport and dropped off at the lobby of the hotel. We were pleasantly greeted and seated in the lobby with our welcome drinks for a short time before we were escorted to our room. We did not even go up to the front desk to check in. It was all done for us.

The St. James Morgan Bay Beach Resort was newly renamed and renovated so the whole property was very new. Even though all the construction was not finished, it did not disturb us. Our room was a garden view room with very nice decorations and accommodations. There were no elevators and there were about four sets of buildings that were three stories high. Today they have expanded the number of buildings in the resort.

A good thing about this resort is that there are no bright colored bands to be worn around your wrist which is a common thing at AI’s. There were 5 restaurants, 3 pools, tennis courts (with free lessons by tennis pro), beach activities to include all non-motorized water sports and more. We got our first sailing lessons and we were able to maneuver a catamaran on our own.
The food at each restaurant was delicious and it served authentic St. Lucian cuisine. Reservation was required for the Seafood and Fine Dining restaurants which were not hard to get. We had lots to choose from with five restaurants on the property.

To tour the island, we hired a taxi for the day. It was our plan to see the Piton Mountains while there and we did. The Pitons were one of the sites that Oprah said that you must see before you die. We even got to walk inside of a live volcano. Mind you that it smells like rotten eggs because of the sulfuric gas. We also saw a few fishing village as well. That is mainly how some people survive there along with banana farms.

One Friday evening, we went to the local fish fry in Gros Ilet to enjoy the scene even though the resort had nightly entertainment. You are talking about a big street party for blocks. Several food vendors, street bars, and DJ pumping the pulsating Caribbean sounds. We ran across a street vendor with a bottle filled with all kinds of roots. We did not know what it was but whatever it was the locals only drank it in shot glasses and only one shot seemed to do the trick. We could only imagine what was in it and what it was known to do.

Another good thing about this trip, we met a great couple from Philadelphia, PA who had a grand time as well. They were the ones, who took our pictures as we prepared for the banana tube ride, which flipped over before we got going by the way. We all just got back on and had a great ride. That was our first ever banana tube ride. You have to ride the banana tube whenever you get a chance because it’s Fun.

All we can say is St. Lucia is a very pretty island. If you have never been there you are missing out on some of the most beautiful foliage and scenery ever. Don’t put it off any longer.

  1. I would love to go to this places in St. Lucia. There are many nice places to spend some time in the beautiful island. I've heard of jalousie plantation holidays. It's a nice thing to experience with a loved one.
